A look at Princess Diana's legacy, as the 20th anniversary of her death approaches

Harry and Prince William, have both spoken in a series of interviews leading up to the 20th anniversary of their mother's death on 31 August.

 

Princess Diana aged 36, was killed in a crash in Paris as the car she was in sped through the Pont de l'Alma tunnel followed by paparazzi photographers.

 

At her inquest in 2008 it was ruled that the gross negligence of her driver Henri Paul, who was drunk. The paparazzi were also to blame for the crash.

 

Prince Harry said: "One of the hardest things to come to terms with is the fact that the people that chased her into the tunnel were the same people that were taking photographs of her while she was still dying on the back seat of the car."

 

Princess Diana opened up to George Michael in a secret phone call he recorded.

The call allegedly took place in July 1996, while the recording was reportedly made by one of the associates the late George Michael.

 

George Michael, who died on 25 December 2016, was calling 20 years previously to wish the Princess a happy birthday.

 

Prince Harry has said he is "very glad" he joined the funeral cortege for his mother, Princess Diana.

Walking behind her coffin aged 12 was something no child "should be asked to do".

The prince also paid tribute to his father for the way he took care of them after Diana's death in a car crash.

"One of the hardest things for a parent to have to do is to tell your children that your other parent has died," Harry said.

"How you deal with that I don't know but, you know, he was there for us."
