CCTV APPEAL FOLLOWING PURSE DIPPINGS – TRING AND BERKHAMSTED

Crime Report

Officers investigating two incidents of theft in Tring and Berkhamsted have released CCTV images of two women they would like to speak to.Appeal following purse dippings

The first incident happened between 12.50pm and 13.30pm on Wednesday, November 23 in WHSmith on Berkhamsted High Street.

The victim, in his 60s, was shopping in the store when an offender stole his wallet from his pocket.

The second incident happened at 3.45pm on Monday, December 5 in House of Cards on Tring High Street.

The victim, in her 70s, was distracted by offender(s) before one stole her purse from her handbag.

Sergeant Adele Hopkin, from the Tring and Berkhamsted Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Both victims are elderly local residents who have been targeted due to their vulnerability.

“This type of crime greatly affects the elderly population and can have devastating consequences for their mental wellbeing.

“Many victims are left feeling too frightened to go back out on their own in the town where they live as a result, removing their sense of independence.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any information or who thinks they recognise the people pictured to please come forward and speak to us.”

Anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation should call PC Mark Procter on Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference numbers D3/16/692 (Tring) and D2/16/1130 (Berkhamsted).
