‘Legal Highs’ are Now Illegal the new legislation - The Psychoactive Substances Act commenced on May 26, 2016. This Act prohibits the production, supply, importation and possession with intent to supply, of ANY substance that is consumed for its psychoactive effect. Also includes nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Which have been turning up in local parks.

Between January 1 2010 and December 31 2015, there were 2,436 separate cases recorded by police when quantities of drugs were seized. This is the equivalent of just over one drugs seizure every single day of the year.

The drugs confiscated most commonly are wraps of herbal cannabis. This is followed by cocaine in wrap or powdered form. Amphetamines, heroin and ecstasy occurs much less frequently.

• December 2nd - MAN ARRESTED FOR CLASS A AND CLASS B DRUGS OFFENCES
  

  Officers from Welwyn Hatfield’s Operation Scorpion Team arrested a man for drugs offences on Tuesday, November 29.

  The 21-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was spotted driving a car by police who were on patrol in the town centre of Welwyn Garden City.  Officers followed the car from the Great North Road and approached it as it came to a stop in Longcroft Lane. The driver of the vehicle then sped off and abandoned the car in Parkfields.  He was arrested shortly after in Parkway.

  The man was found to have a small amount of suspected cannabis in his possession and 150 wraps of what is believed to be Class A drugs. 

  The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class and A and Class B drugs and dangerous driving.  He was released on police bail and is due to return to Hatfield Police Station on January 1 pending further police enquiries.
  Operation Scorpion is Hertfordshire's initiative to drive down serious-acquisitive crime, relentlessly pursue criminals, bring them to justice and make the county a more hostile place for them to operate.  

  The team targets burglars, robbers and those involved in drug and vehicle related crime. Activity is focused on those criminals causing the most harm to our communities through a wide range of proactive work carried out by police officers and staff across the Constabulary.

• August 26th - Dwayne Butler, aged 28, from Gladstone Road, Watford, was the last to be sentenced following two arrest phases in September 2015, which involved around 100 officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Operation Scorpion and Operational Support Group, as well as a drugs dog. 

  In total 26 people were arrested as part of the operation which had been on-going for eight months. Butler was sentenced to seven years in prison by Harrow Crown Court on August 15 for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

  As part of the operation, nine people were jailed for a combined total of 32 years and 10 months. Six people were also handed suspended sentences, four people were cautioned for handling stolen goods and three people were handed youth referral orders. Three other people arrested were released with no further action taken. 

  Neighbourhood Inspector Nick Lillitou said: “This operation actively targeted those suspected of being involved in drug supply and has proved a great success. It was launched following concerns from local residents, which we listened to and acted upon with one of the largest drug operations ever carried out in Watford.” 

  PC David Elgy, who led the operation, said: “This was a challenging operation but ultimately very satisfying and I’m pleased that we have managed to secure custodial sentences for numerous offenders who had been causing many issues for the community of Watford.

• August 12th - Daniel Dady, aged 37, of The Fairway, was sentenced to 28 months by St Albans Crown Court on Monday (August 8) after pleading guilty to two charges of supplying Class A drugs, two charges of possession with intent to supply and being found guilty of one charge of possession of criminal property. His home was searched a bag containing 115 wraps of cocaine was found, along with a further eight wraps hidden inside a box.

• July 20th - One arrested tonight by the SNT on Radlett Road for possession with intent to supply cannabis!
  

• July 20th - Police officers in North Herts executed three drugs warrants at addresses in Hitchin and Letchworth in a series of raids this morning (Wednesday, July 20). officers seized what is believed to be Class B and Class C drugs, and  a substantial quantity of cash.
  A Nissan Navara was also seized.
  A 25 year old woman, from Letchworth, was arrested under the Proceeds of Crime Act and a 30 year old man from Letchworth was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
  They are currently in police custody.

• July 8th - Police seized class A and B drugs at the address in Oak Green, Abbots Langley, yesterday morning.

• July 5th - Police seized suspected Class B drugs in raids on three homes in Watford.
  Lloyd Nathaniel, 35, of Croxley View, Watford, has been charged with possession of Class B drugs and is due to appear at St Albans Magistrates Court on July 26.
